What We Won't Say
What we won't say
Most of what gets written about badge overlays is written by people who have never cut one. It reads well, and it does not survive contact with a wet Tuesday in a retail park car park.
We have been cutting vinyl for one marque since 17 May 2011. In that time we have learned which sentences come back to us as emails, and we have stopped writing them. This page is the list: the claims we refuse to make, and the true thing we put in each one's place.
It is not modesty. A claim we cannot stand behind is a return with a fortnight's delay attached.
We won't tell you how long it lasts
No number of years. No "long-lasting", no UV rating, no weather or fade claim dressed up as a spec. Anyone printing a lifespan on a badge overlay is quoting a laboratory, not your car.
What's true instead
We cut from premium 3M cast vinyl. What happens to it afterwards depends on where the car sleeps, how often it meets a jet wash, what was on the brush at the hand-wash, and roughly nine months a year of British weather. We have no sight of any of that, so we do not put a number on it.
We won't call it waterproof, self-healing or scratch-resistant
Those words do a lot of work in this category and none of it is ours. They do not appear on a product page, in an advert or in an email from us, and if you find one on this site it is an error we would like reported.
What's true instead
It is a cast vinyl overlay that sits on the badge you already own. That is the whole description. The material is named, the process is named, and nothing is implied past it.
We won't tell you how long the install takes
Not in minutes, not "over a coffee", not any other way of saying it. We have known people take a full evening over one bonnet roundel because they wanted it dead straight, and we have known people do four badges before anyone noticed they had gone outside. Both were fine. A timing claim exists only to make somebody feel slow.
What's true instead
The cut vinyl and printed instructions are in the envelope. What you supply is an alcohol wipe and a clean cloth, and no heat gun is needed for badge overlays. V-brace kits vary by grille generation. The walkthrough is on the Fitting Guide, and it is the same guide we work from.
We won't offer a warranty on the film
No warranty, no guarantee, no lifetime anything. A warranty on a self-fit vinyl overlay would be a claim about your driveway, your prep and your weather, none of which we get to inspect.
What's true instead
Your statutory rights are untouched, and we are not going to dress a marketing promise up as something that sits above them. Unused and unapplied kits can come back: the 14-day cancellation right, custom-order terms and refund timelines are all on Returns & Cancellations. If a kit arrives damaged, send photographs and the order number and we will put it right. A wrong fit is handled as a re-cut, because that is a question about our measuring rather than about the film.
We won't say the year decides your kit
"Pre-2017 takes V1, 2017-on takes V2" is the most repeated sentence in this category and it is wrong. It has been wrong on our own pages before now, which is precisely how we know what it costs.
What's true instead
The chassis code decides. V1 is the E and F series. V2 is the G and U series, plus the F40. Seventeen V1 chassis were still being built well past 2017, so an X2 F39 registered in 2023 takes V1. Meanwhile a G30 from 2016 and a G11 from 2015 both take V2. The V5C tells you the year. It does not tell you the badge housing.
If you do not know your chassis code, Size Scout and the fitment guide will find it, or send us a photograph of the badge and we will read it for you.
We won't quote you 82mm
82mm and 74mm are outer roundel diameters. They are context, and they are not the fitment measurement. A tape laid across the whole badge is the most common route to the wrong kit, and it is an easy mistake, because the badge on the bonnet genuinely is that wide.
What's true instead
Our kits are cut to the quadrant. Measure from the centre of the badge outward to the edge of the coloured field, and stop before the silver divider lines, which are not part of it. It is a radius, not a diameter. Written down, our sizes look like this.
| Quadrant | V1 — E and F series | V2 — G and U series, plus F40 |
|---|---|---|
| Bonnet | 23mm | 22.5mm |
| Bonnet, size 2 | 20mm | — |
| Boot | 23mm | 20.5mm |
| Boot, size 2 | 18mm | — |
| Wheels | 19mm | 16mm |
| Steering | 11–12mm | 12mm |
Half a millimetre between a V1 and a V2 bonnet quadrant sounds like nothing, right up until it is sitting on the divider line where everybody can see it.
We won't say it comes off good as new
Nobody can promise that, because what is underneath is a badge we have never seen. It has had however many winters, however many pressure washers, and possibly whatever the last set of overlays left behind.
What's true instead
The kit is an overlay rather than a replacement badge, and it is designed to be removed cleanly. That is the honest form of the sentence, and it is the only form we use.
We won't run a countdown or a stock counter
No "only three left". No timer that resets itself every time you reload. No urgency banner that has been urgent since March. Manufactured scarcity on a made-to-order product is not even internally consistent.
What's true instead
There is one live discount. LAUNCH8 takes 8% off, it is for the first 280 orders, and there is no end date on it. When the 280 are gone it stops working, and no clock on this website will have counted anything down at you in the meantime.
We won't write our own reviews
No invented quotes, no borrowed photographs, no five-star testimonial from a first name and an initial who does not exist. We also do not claim a rank we cannot show you the working for.
What's true instead
Four numbers, and the same four every time: 53,000+ sold, 10,565 eBay feedbacks, 4.3 stars across 568 Amazon ratings, trading since 17 May 2011. They come out of our own storefront history rather than a rounding decision made by somebody in marketing. Anything a customer posts about their own car stays theirs: credited, with permission, or not used.
We won't promise a delivery day we don't control
Kits are cut to order, and the moment a parcel leaves the unit the day belongs to Royal Mail rather than to us. Pretending otherwise is how a firm ends up arguing with a customer about a driver's route.
What's true instead
Dispatch is 1–3 working days, because the kit is cut for your chassis after you order it rather than picked off a shelf. UK Royal Mail 1st Class delivery is free, with no minimum spend. The upgrades are priced plainly: 2nd Class Signed £0.88, 1st Class Signed £1.70, Next Day by 1pm £9.88, Next Day by 10am £11.88, International Tracked & Signed £10.88. Detail on Shipping.
We won't tell you what anyone else's vinyl is like
We have opinions. They are not evidence, and a page of them would say more about us than about the product. We are not going to name a seller, a listing or a competitor either, because that is a different business to the one we are in.
What's true instead
107 published products. More than 60 colours and finishes. Every colourway is cut and put on a real badge before it is listed, and the ones that only look good in a supplier catalogue do not make it onto the site. The lines are PATINA and YOUNGTIMER on V1, FORGE and G-SPEC on V2, with SPINE for V-braces, LATCH for key wraps and TRACER for stripes and tints. UK-made kits, precision-cut in Birmingham.
Why a page like this exists
Because after fifteen years the honest version is simply cheaper to run. Every claim we do not make is an argument we do not have, a return we do not process, and an email neither of us has to write on a Sunday evening.
If you find anything on this website that breaks one of the eleven above, send it to support@superwrappz.co.uk with the link, and we will fix the page. That is not a customer service line. It is genuinely how several of these came to be written.
