Which BMW Badge Overlay Should I Buy?
You are about to spend somewhere between £9.98 and £29.96 on cut vinyl that sits on the most-looked-at part of your car. This page is the five minutes of reading that stops it arriving in the wrong size. Compatible with BMW — Not Genuine BMW Parts.

1. Work out your version first. The chassis code decides it, not the year.
There are two overlay versions because BMW changed the roundel geometry, and they did not do it on a tidy calendar date. V1 covers the E and F series. V2 covers the G and U series, plus the F40 1 Series, which sits with the newer group despite the F.
This is the part the internet gets wrong constantly. Seventeen V1 chassis carried on being built well past 2017 — an X2 F39 that rolled out in 2023 still takes V1. Meanwhile the G30 5 Series arrived in 2016 and the G11 7 Series in 2015, and both take V2. If a listing anywhere tells you "pre-2017 equals V1", that listing is guessing.

2. The measurement is a radius, and it is not the number you have seen quoted
Every overlay is cut to the quadrant. You measure from the centre of the badge outward to the edge of the coloured field, and you stop before the silver divider lines. Those dividers stay silver — the vinyl sits in the blue and white quarters only. It is a radius. It is not a diameter, and it is not the whole roundel.
You will see 82mm and 74mm quoted in a lot of places. Those are outer roundel diameters, and they are context, nothing more. Order to one of those and you will be holding a piece of vinyl considerably larger than the space you have for it.

3. What do I actually want, and what do I buy for it
This is the table to read with your card already out. Everything below is V1 unless it says otherwise. Eight of them are also cut in V2 — Full Black Gloss, Full Black Carbon, Half Black Gloss, Half Black Carbon, Black & White Gloss, Black & White Carbon, Black & Red Carbon and Black & Dark Grey Carbon. 4. Postage, in full, including the bit most shops bury
Kits are cut to order, so dispatch runs 1–3 working days. After that it is Royal Mail.

5. What the material is, and what we will not tell you about it
Premium 3M cast vinyl, precision-cut in Birmingham. UK-made kits, cut in-house, which is the only reason a non-standard measurement is a re-cut rather than a shrug.
Now the part where most listings start inventing things. We do not publish a lifespan figure, a weather rating, or a scratch claim, because we cannot evidence one on your car in your weather. We do not publish an install time either. You will be fitting this in a warm garage or in drizzle outside an MOT centre, and those are not the same job. The overlays are designed to be removed cleanly.
